Building and wooden bridge for cyclists, Kôszeg
I chose to design a bridge to continue the ERFARET wooden bridge design and research program, which started in 2006.
An important aspect of this program is the development of bicycle tourism. I made my design keeping in mind two principles: comfortable crossing and an attractive form to
encourage tourism.
By also separating the levels, I divided the body of the bridge into three parts: two passenger lanes on the sides and one cycling lane in the middle. The bridge could be continued in tracks and paths which would end in a definite geometric form, a building. The service building would be a shape emerging from land, a circular positive form, which has a panoramic view of the island. It would house a café, a bicycle shop and serve as a lookout.
